Forum Signature: 

You can easily get do-follow quality back links from various forums and forums are not only good for back links but also for targeted traffic. It’s free to create an account on most of the forums and then you can start taking part in discussion threads to increase your post count. If other forum members will find your replies satisfactory then they will get curious to know more about you and also about the services you offer and will eventually click on the link you have given in your signature. This will give you targeted free traffic. You can check whether a forum is offering do-follow links or not by installing Firefox browser and then you will need an add-on which is better known as “No Do follow”. Using this add-on you can make your life easy to see whether a page has do-follow links or no-follow. 

Blog Commenting:

I would always prefer blog commenting over forum signature links, mainly because of the number of outbound links a blog has is comparatively less than a forum and we all know how much does link juice depends on the number of outbound links, the lesser the number of outbound the better It is to get a link from that page. Also, you can have additional links in blog comments, especially on blogs which supports add-ons such as Comment love. (Yea, I am misspelling it knowingly)

Also, you can find blog commenting easy when compared with forum posting. At least it’s easy for me and it might be my own perception and you can possibly find the other one easier. 

You don’t even need to register on most of the blogs to leave your comments while on forums you must register in order to reply to existing threads and to add signature you must go to user control panel which can’t be done until you are a registered member on the forum. In short, forum posting is a time consuming technique when compared with blog commenting and that’s one of the reasons why it’s less popular.

Social Bookmarking:

Another effective link building technique is Social Bookmarking; it’s the process of bookmarking your site in social bookmarking directories such as Dig, stumble upon, delicious etc. 

*Dig is just an example social bookmarking site and you won’t get a do-follow back link even if you submit your site in this directory, however you can simply search Google to get a list do-follow social bookmarking sites for the same purpose. 

Social bookmarking is good for the sake of both back link as well as targeted traffic.

How efficient is forum posting for back links?

This is a very common question, I in this article I am going to throw some light on it.

If you are an active forum poster and let’s say you have 100+ posts on some forum and you are also using a signature (in which you have got your website’s link), so it simply means that you are getting back links from those 100 forum pages.

Those pages are do follow or no follow is another story, but in short you are getting back links, this technique is  also being used by several webmasters to drive traffic to their site not only this you also gets a little bit of link juice from high pr forums pointing at your site.

Some forums allow up to 3 different links in signature and the best part is you don’t have to pay for that, to cut the long story short- it wouldn’t hurt you to add forum posting in your arsenal if you are a new internet marketer and are looking for some free back links + traffic.

Forum posting is quite similar to blog commenting, but comparatively its much easy, it hardly takes 5-10 minutes to make a handy of useful forum replies

2: Blog posting:

Blog posting is another good method to get back links, popular blogging platforms are blogger and wordpress, both are free and easy to use, you just need a valid email address to create an account and then you are ready to post, both blogger and wordpress are designed by professionals and so they are highly optimized for search engines (you don’t even need to look at the coding part to make it seo friendly)

3: Social media marketing:

With the event of time social media has turned into a major source of viral traffic, facebook and twitter have got billions of users from all over the world, its relatively easy to create an account on these sites as well, all it needs is a valid email address, once you have an account you just need to add more and more friends to your network and finally you can create a facebook fan page and suggest it your friends to start getting free hits to your website

4: Article submission:

Articles are no doubt another good source for targeted traffic which ultimately converts into sales which is the dream of every internet money maker, famous article submission sites are ezinearticles, articlebase, squidoo etc… you can find tons of article directories all you need to do is search for it on Google and start submitting (make sure your article is unique and its copyscape passed for best results)

5:  Link directories:

Similar to article submission is link submission, there are many link directories which allows you to add your link in there link database, again I am only going to talk about the best in class here which is dmoz its kind of hard to get your link request accepted at dmoz but no doubt its one of the best source of targeted traffic so, you need to find your way by reading there submission guidelines carefully and believe me it pays off to get listed at dmoz

6: Blog commenting:

We have already talked about blog posting in point number 2 of this article, blog commenting is somewhat similar, you just need to find the blogs related to your niche and then you are ready to comment, just make sure that you are not spamming but giving something useful and talk to the point or else your comment will not be approved and all your effort will be waste.
